RBMN's Festive "Fall Fling"

New Campus in Nesquehoning creates Lasting Memories

- Employees, friends, and family enjoying the festivities

The Reading and Northern Railroad held its annual employee party at the newly acquired Nesquehoning Campus Saturday night after six careful months of planning.

The complex, which was previously owned by Fire Engine manufacturer KME, was purchased by Andy Muller, CEO in early 2022.

All employees from the railroad, Muller Rare Coins, Reading Jet Center, Innovative Operations Technology (IOT), contractors, and retirees were invited.

Each employee had the opportunity to invite a guest and was able catch a complementary train ride in special coaches to and from three of the company’s many boardable locations.

  • Over 250 people attended and were delighted by the number of surprises and excitement that followed during the evening.

  • Members of RBMN’s Party Planning Commitee, greeted guests by providing name tags, raffle tickets for prizes, and complementary gift bags which included the newly pressed 2023 calendars!

The Muller family generously provided each attendee the chance to win prizes based on a raffle-contest-style event followed by show-stopping gifts. The latter of which all were eligible as a single entry per attendee.

Auctioned prizes included grocery gift cards, cash, a snow blower, season passes to Hershey Park, gift tickets to Knoebels, and much more which aggregately spanned just shy of the $15,000 mark!

However, the two biggest prizes caught everyone by surprise. Two, $4,000 credits, from Boscov's Travel Agency provided a vacation destination of the winners’ choice!

The grand prize was jaw dropping and a cause for everyone attending the party to ultimately cheer with congratulations to the lucky recipient. Owner Christina (Tina) Muller-Levan motioned to a side garage door which opened, revealing a spotless, gleaming white, and brand new 2022 Chevy Trail Blazer which was driven to its podium position in the building. With excited anticipation from the audience, Tina announced that the grand prize winner was one of our talented passenger mechanics who has worked over two years for the railroad.

With the feasting finished, the gifts distributed, the energy high, and the night young, employees were then treated to dessert, more music and dancing, and a “fun mirror” during which groups could try on different costumes and get their pictures taken for mementos.

Some of you may be thinking, “where were Andy and Carol” during this amazing night? As Tina stated when she addressed the crowd in early evening, “Mom and Dad would have loved to be here, but it was their anniversary. So, they send their best and hope for your understanding!” Based on the feedback from those that attended the event, “apology” accepted, but whole-heartedly unnecessary!

Thank you Andy, Carol, Tina, and the rest of the Muller family for your graciousness, hospitality, and generosity!

The Reading and Northern is already in the planning stages of next year's party! More details about the railroad can be found on www.rbmnrr.com.
